The History and Origins of Wagyu Beef
The history of Wagyu dates back to the 2nd century when cattle were introduced to Japan for farming and transportation purposes. Over time, Japan's isolation and selective breeding practices led to the development of distinct cattle breeds, including the revered Wagyu. Today, the term Wagyu encompasses four primary Japanese breeds: Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Shorthorn, and Japanese Polled.
