Over time, Japan's isolation and selective breeding practices led to the development of distinct cattle breeds, including the revered Wagyu. Today, the term Wagyu encompasses four primary Japanese breeds: Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Shorthorn, and Japanese Polled.
